Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng, the Director of University Health Services and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Medicine, School of Medical Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has been elected President of the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA), Africa Region.

WONCA is a non-governmental organization that advocates for general practice and family medicine at the international level, engaging with entities like the World Health Organization.

The organisation also promotes high standards of care and equity in family medicine, fosters the development of academic organizations, and provides a forum for knowledge exchange among its member organizations and family doctors.

Dr. Ayisi-Boateng’s tenure as President will be from 2027 to 2029.
